Today’s installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.
* In the latest national polling, the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found Joe Biden leading Donald Trump among registered by nine points (50% to 41%), while CNN’s poll showed the Democrat ahead by four points (50% to 46%), and the ABC News/Washington Post poll found the former vice president up by 12 points (53% to 41%).
* On a related note, consider an interesting observation from Harry Enten: “In the 13 previous elections in which an incumbent was running for another term, no challenger has ever been at or above 50% in the polls at this point in the campaign.”
* The latest data suggests Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) has been a welcome addition to the Democratic ticket: the ABC News/Washington Post poll found a majority of Americans approve of Biden’s choice.
* Late last week, shortly after the president’s highly provocative comments about undermining the U.S. Postal Service deliberately, the National Association of Letter Carriers endorsed Biden’s candidacy. The union represents nearly 300,000 active and retired postal workers.
