The U.S. Senate is expected to vote tomorrow on the radical Blunt Amendment, which would allow any employer to deny any essential or preventative health care benefit for religious or moral reasons.
Conservatives want to take away affordable access to birth control and put your boss in your bedroom and in charge of your most personal health care decisions. But it goes way beyond contraception.
The legislation is so extreme that, for example, if your boss believed in healing exclusively through the power of prayer, he could have sufficient legal grounds to deny you coverage for various medical conditions.
Some big name Republicans, like Maine’s Olympia Snowe, are running away from the legislation.
“With respect to the Blunt amendment, I think it’s much broader than I could support,” Snowe told msnbc today on Andrea Mitchell Reports.
