Clint Eastwood is drawing mixed reviews for his unscripted endorsement of Mitt Romney at the Republican National Convention.
Eastwood, speaking to an empty chair, carried on a rambling conversation with an imaginary President Barack Obama. At one point he said, “What do you mean ‘shut up.’”
The crowd seemed to love it. But film critic Roger Ebert, who said Eastwood is hero, gave it a big thumbs down.
“Clint, my hero, is coming across as sad and pathetic,” tweeted Ebert. “He didn’t need to do this to himself. It’s unworthy of him.”
