It’s take your child to work day. But instead of taking one of his 2 children, 3 step-kids, or grandkids, Secretary of State John Kerry brought his pup.

It’s take your child to work day, but instead of taking one of his 2 children, 3 step-kids, or grandkids, Secretary of State John Kerry brought his pup instead.
Kerry, along with his one-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever Ben, greeted the children of the State Department employees Thursday morning. “He’s named for Ben Franklin,” Kerry said about the pup. “You know, our first diplomat. He’s actually the DiploMutt.”
“There is one rule in show business, don’t do anything with kids or animals,” Kerry said to the crowd. “I’m breaking those rules today, big time!”
Kerry who introduced the world to Ben last November, brought in the one-year-old pup to work to recognize national Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day because- as he joked- his own children were too old to participate. The nationally recognized day is celebrating 21 years of the programs history with more than 3.5 million workplaces participating nationwide. “Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Day, has inspired a future generation of girls and boys by helping bring them into the workplace to explore the many life choices they have,” the website reads.
Ben’s media day was just one of his big events this week. On Tuesday, the @johnkerry Twitter handle wished his pup a happy birthday using his official Twitter handle @diplomutt.
Benjamin F. Kerry Twitter profile is complete with a picture of him getting into a limousine that transports his dad around town and more than 600 followers waiting for the dog’s tweet.
