Former Rep. Gabby Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly have accepted Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s Ice Bucket Challenge.

Giffords, who became a public face in the gun control movement after she was shot in the head in 2011, decided to challenge Wayne LaPierre- the executive vice president and CEO of the NRA.
“One of the best party about this is we get to nominate three other individuals,” Kelly said in the video posted on YouTube on Thursday. Kelly and Gifford nominated his brother and family friend before announcing their third challenger. “Finally, Wayne LaPierre, the head of the National Rifle Association, who we do hope, one day, we can agree upon more than just supporting ALS and Lou Gehrig’s disease research.”

According to a LaPierre spokesperson, the vice president and CEO of the NRA accepted Gifford’s and Kelly’s challenge and plans on sending a monetary contribution as well. The viral sensation that has taken over people’s social media timelines has raised more than $41 million this month.
“I’m not really looking forward to having a bucket of ice dumped on my head,” Kelly said moments before the cold bucket of ice was dumped on his head. “Gabby don’t get to excited about this.” “Oh I’m so excited,” Giffords said.
