Today’s installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.
* Though Joe Biden was expected to announce his running mate this week, it now appears the Delaware Democrat will reveal his choice next week.
* After pulling its broadcast advertising last week, Donald Trump’s campaign returned to the airwaves today, with ads targeting Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. It’s of interest that these are four states — each of which backed Trump four years ago — that Republicans weren’t expected to worry about in 2020.
* As Nevada moves forward with plans to send mail-in ballots to the state’s registered voters, Trump has already threatened to sue, insisting that expanding voter access like this would make it “impossible for Republicans to win the state.”
* Though there was some reporting over the weekend that the press would not be permitted to cover the Republican convention in Charlotte later this month, as of this morning, RNC officials are saying that the party is “still working through logistics and press coverage options.”
