FIRST ICE DANCING GOLD FOR TEAM USA: After two nearly flawless performances, the American figure skating duo Meryl Davis and Charlie White won the gold for ice dancing – Team USA’s first ever in that category.
REMATCH FOR U.S. WOMEN’S HOCKEY TEAM: The U.S. women’s hockey team advances to the final round on Thursday after defeating Sweden, 6-1. They will play against Canada for the gold — a rematch from the 2010 Vancouver Games, in which the neighbors to the north beat Team USA.
BUZZ CONTINUES OVER RUSSIA VS. USA MATCH: The nail-biter men’s hockey match on Saturday ended in a penalty shoot-out and a major U.S. upset against long-time rivals Russia. On Monday, Russian fans gathered near the U.S. Embassy in Moscow to protest a controversial call which disallowed a critical Russian goal.
BOBSLED RACE, 62 YEARS IN THE MAKING: It’s a bronze for Steven Holcomb of Park City, Utah, and Steve Langton of Melrose, Mass. The pair placed third in the two-man bobsled– the first medal by an American sled since 1952.
