Elizabeth Warren, the popular Massachusetts senator who has become a fundraising phenomenon for the Democratic party, will turn her power on a women’s group next month in New York City.
Warren will headline a major conference for EMILY’s List, which funds campaigns for pro-choice Democratic women, recruits candidates for office, and mobilizes voters. She will appear alongside the group’s President Stephanie Schriock at the Mandarin Oriental on Sept. 22.
“There’s a reason women are so enthusiastic about Sen. Warren — she’s one of the strongest, smartest fighters we’ve ever had,” said Marcy Stech, national press secretary for EMILY’s List. “We couldn’t be prouder of the work she’s done [in Massachusetts] helping women and families get a fair shot.” The organization helped Warren win her role as the first woman senator from the Bay State in November 2012.
The populist Democratic senator repeatedly insists she won’t campaign for president in 2016. Instead, she has said that she wants to support Democratic candidates running for the midterm elections this year.
