Tea party darling Sen. Ted Cruz responded to “True Blood”’s bloody takedown of the GOP, with a few zingers of his own.
“I’m sorry to have lost the vampire vote, but am astonished (and amused) that HBO is suggesting that hard-core leftists are blood-sucking fiends,” the Texas Republican said in a post on his Facebook page.
On Sunday night’s episode of the HBO series, vampires Eric Northman and Pam De Beaufort—played by actors Alexander Skarsgård and Kristin Bauer van Straten respectively—visited a fundraiser for the Texas Republican, coined the term “Republicunt,” and true to the series’ form, prompted a giant bloodbath.
“Of all the horrible things I’ve seen in the past 100 years, this is going to the most disturbing,” Pam quips as she enters the gala.
Cruz wasn’t so amused by the show’s sense of humor.
“Of all the places I never thought to be mentioned, HBO’s ‘True Blood’ vampire show would have to be near the top of the list,” he wrote on Facebook Tuesday afternoon. “Sunday night, they aired a misogynist and profanity-ridden episode where Texas Republicans are murdered attending a ‘Ted Cruz fundraiser.’” Later on Twitter, while promoting his Facebook post, Cruz resurrected a popular conservative conspiracy theory regarding the 1960 presidential election, when Republicans alleged that Democrats illegally used the voter registration of dead people to elect John F. Kennedy.
