Margaret Thatcher’s death a conservative rallying call for Texas congressman

Two weeks ago we asked, “Do Rep. Stockman’s tweets make him the ‘craziest’ Republican in America?”, and indeed the Texan congressman has proved that he is—at least—a flamethrower.

Following news of the passing of former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, Stockman began flooding the twitterverse with famous quotes from and exaltations from the “Iron Lady.”

But his best offering read as a bellowing call to action:

The best way to honor Baroness Thatcher is to crush liberalism and sweepit into the dustbin of history.What are you doing this morning?

For much of the accolades that Thatcher rightly deserves, there is a lot to be said of the divisiveness she brought about during her more than 10 years in office. Most Brits, at that time, would’ve loved the sweep Thatcher’s union-busting and economic policies out with the trash.

She was called the “Iron Lady” for her undeterred and unyielding conservative toughness, but one wonders whether Rep. Stockman, who said the Violoence Against Women Act was a “horrible” bill that would help “men dressed up as women” would have reciprocated such adulation.
