A gun rights group in Utah that supports letting teachers carry concealed weapons in schools is offering training courses to teachers free of charge.
“The sanctity of the schools has been violated. And the only training [teachers have] had up till now has been lock the doors and hide behind the desk,” said Utah Shooting Sports Council Chairman Clark Aposhian on Jansing & Co. “We need to give them another option and they realize that and that’s why they’re coming to the class.”
A new Gallup poll shows 64% of Americans believe armed school officials would be effective. But not everyone supports the idea of having armed educators in schools.
