Friday night on All In with Chris Hayes: Congress has been focused on Syria since returning from summer recess, but another important battle is looming on the horizon. The U.S. is projected to hit the debt ceiling in about a month, according to Treasury Secretary Jack Lew. Congressional leaders are indicating that they will be steadfast in their opposition to compromising on budget issues, with House Speaker John Boehner announcing Thursday there will be no continuing resolution to keep the government running after the end of the month. Meanwhile, a NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Friday shows that 44% of Americans oppose raising the debt ceiling. Chris Hayes will explain how Congress got itself into this mess.
Later, Hayes will talk about a trifecta of crazy stories coming out of Florida. State Attorney General Pam Bondi came under fire this week for postponing the scheduled execution of a prisoner on death row because it conflicted with her campaign fundraiser. The Florida Department of Health is also working against Obamacare, prohibiting federal “navigators” who help people sign up for coverage from working in the state’s health department offices. Plus, The New York Post reports wild monkeys carrying herpes are on the loose.
Hayes will also discuss the Wall Street Journal‘s recent posting for an intriguing position – “Mansion Reporter.”
