Mitt Romney probably wants to erase today. Fresh off a big win in Illinois he had to contend with… a retro children’s toy.
His Republican rivals dusted off Etch A Sketches for use as props on the campaign trail, making fun of comments made by a Romney advisor earlier this morning.
When asked about Romney’s push to the right and the impact on moderates, Eric Fehrnstrom said, “Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all over again.”
Both Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich got in the act, toting the red timewasters on stage. (Seriously, how does anyone make those elaborate portraits? It’s beyond me).
Team Santorum used it as evidence Romney’s a phony conservative and plans to abandon his positions in the general election.
