Are we sure President Obama wasn’t born in Massachusetts? Today, the president welcomed the Boston Bruins to the White House to congratulate them on their Stanley Cup win. While he didn’t sing this time, Obama tossed some classic New England to his opening remarks.
“I am happy to welcome the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins to the White House. I know you are all wicked happy to be here.”
(Our very own Last Word host Lawrence O’Donnell, who hails from Mass, has a way of slipping “wicked” into many many scripts.)
Tim Thomas was noticeably absent from the ceremony. The team’s star goalie declined the invitation to visit the White House for political reasons. Another Boston team is also being buzzed about in the news. The New England Patriots will now take on the New York Giants in the upcoming Super Bowl after last night’s play-offs win.
