Senate Republicans are continuing to promise a filibuster on gun-regulation legislation this week, even as 11 family members of the Newtown shooting victims are pushing Congress in Washington, D.C. today for stricter gun laws. Meanwhile, Sens. Joe Manchin and Pat Toomey are expected to reach a compromise on expanded background checks, requiring background checks for all purchases at gun shows and on the internet but is not applicable to person-to-person sales. The deal would also require sellers to maintain a record of those background checks.
