America’s golden girl Betty White endorsed President Obama on Friday. The 90-year-old actress says she usually stays mum on politics as to not offend any fans. But she admitted to the Associated Press that she “very, very much favors” Obama and likes “how he represents us.”
Known for her animal rights advocacy, it turns out she’s also an advocate for marriage equality. In 2010, she told Parade magazine:
“I don’t care who anybody sleeps with. If a couple has been together all that time – and there are gay relationships that are more solid than some heterosexual ones – I think it’s fine if they want to get married. I don’t know how people can get so anti-something. Mind your own business, take care of your affairs, and don’t worry about other people so much.” White’s impressive career spans over seven decades, including her role as Rose Nylund on the 1980s sitcom, “The Golden Girls.” Below is a clip from that award-winning, groundbreaking show where the characters tackle the issue of marriage equality.
