Talk about a false equivalency.
A billboard in Elkhart, Indiana, is getting a lot of attention for tacitly equating President Barack Obama with Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaida leader who was killed last year at the hands of Navy SEALs on orders from the president.
It reads: “The Navy SEALs removed one threat to America… The voters must remove the other.”
The billboard was paid for by the Tea Party group We the People of Marshall and Fulton counties.
The head of the organization, Don Nunemaker of Plymouth, was reportedly vague about the threat voters are to “remove,” saying it’s up to individual voters to interpret.
About 25 people protested at the billboard yesterday, according to The Elkhart Truth, some of them calling the message offensive. “I am highly offended at that sign,” said Doris Stickel, a retired teacher. “It’s ignorant.” “I feel we’re getting into a very dangerous climate and I would like to see a more human, loving election,” said Clarence Moseng, another protester.
