Legendary musician Bruce Springsteen campaigned for President Barack Obama today in Parma, Ohio, after being introduced by none other than former President Bill Clinton.
“I get to speak after President Clinton. That’s like going on after Elvis,” Springsteen said to the 3,000 people packed into the gym at Cuyahoga Community College.
At one point during a seven-song, 35-minute set, The Boss stopped to make a poetic, powerful pitch for Obama’s re-election.
“I came here today because I’m thankful for universal health care, the lack of which was for so long an embarrassment to our country,” said Springsteen, a father of three children. “I’m thankful for a more regulated Wall Street. I’m thankful GM is still making cars. What else would I write about? I’d have no job without that!” Springsteen continued, “The future is rarely a tide rushing in. It’s often a slow march, inch by inch, day after long day, and I believe we are in the midst of those long days right now. And I’m here today because I believe President Obama feels those days in his bones, for all the 100 percent of us.”
