Mitt Romney’s problems are growing exponentially. Prominent conservatives are now calling on him to release more tax returns NOW.
Bill Kristol said Romney should do it and it should be 8 to 10 additional years. George Will said the costs of not releasing them are clear so the costs of releasing them must be high. They aren’t the only ones telling Romney to get it over with and release the returns.
This is all a result of the renewed focus on Romney’s years at the helm of Bain Capital. Even Romney strategist Ed Gillespie says that Obama’s Bain ads have been working, yet more documents list Romney as head of Bain during the years he has claimed publicly he didn’t have an active role, flatly contradicting him.
Gillespie also says Romney retired “retroactively” from Bain. So the Romney campaign is clearly flailing. Meanwhile, President Obama says there will be no apology for his attacks on Bain.
“Mr. Romney claims he’s Mr. Fix-It for the economy because of his business experience, so I think voters entirely legitimately want to know what is exactly his business experience,” he said. ”Mr. Romney is now claiming he wasn’t there at the time except his filings with the SEC listing says he was the CEO, chairman and president of the company.” And just today in a speech President Obama went after Romney’s so-called economy-fixing experience full throttle.
