The GOP “war on women” is over! Hold it, I’m being told now that it never existed.
Republican National Chairman Reince Priebus says that “war on women” you’ve been hearing about is a Democratic fabrication perpetuated by the media, as fictional as a “war on caterpillars.”
“If the Democrats said we had a war on caterpillars and every mainstream media outlet talked about the fact that Republicans have a war on caterpillars, then we’d have problems with caterpillars,” Priebus said in an interview with Bloomberg Television’s Political Capital with Al Hunt that will air this weekend. “The fact of the matter is, it’s a fiction.”
In reality, GOP war on women has greatly intensified the last few months, essentially aimed at restricting reproductive rights. How Priebus missed it is beyond comprehension.
Of course, the analogy was so strange, it allowed Priebus to avoid Hunt’s question, which was how the GOP is going to close a “huge, huge margin for Democrats among women voters.”
Ed will have a lot more to say about this tonight on The Ed Show at 8pET on msnbc.
