Governor Daniel P. Malloy (Connecticut) and Governor Steve Beshear (Kentucky) may be fellow Democrats, but when it comes to Monday evenings NCAA championship game they are on opposing sides.
On Monday, Governor Malloy announced that the two made a friendly wager over the NCAA National Championship game between number 7 UConn and number 8 Kentucky, putting their state’s food on line.
The stakes are simple: The looser provides the winner with food from their home state and gets bragging rights.
Kentucky Governor Beshear may have the upper edge as the Don/Linemakers Power Rankings is giving Kentucky a 1.3-point edge over UConn, on a neutral court. “The Wildcats are having an unbelievable tournament, with another remarkable win in their Final Four game against Wisconsin Saturday night,” Governor Beshear said. “The Wildcats’ momentum will continue tonight and carry them past UConn, to UK’s ninth NCAA men’s basketball championship. Governor Malloy is a terrific governor and friend, but come Tuesday morning, he will be shipping his wager to Bourbon and Wildcat Country!”
