Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may be out of the political life, but a new 64% favorability rating from Gallup shows that America still loves her. Clinton’s rating is higher than those of President Obama or Vice President Biden.
Clinton and Jeb Bush, the rumored GOP presidential candidate, gave dueling speeches in the Lone Star State Wednesday. Clinton addressed the National Multi-Housing Council in Dallas, while Bush spoke to the World Affairs Council.
According to a Politico poll, Clinton leads Bush 51% to 40%.
“In a 2016 match-up, Jeb Bush would be a throwback guy,” said Cycle host S.E Cupp Wednesday. “And Hillary Clinton would be packaged as the promise of something new, of change.”
Cupp said that against that packaging, Republicans cannot rely on another Bush candidate. “That would be someone like Rubio or maybe Chris Christie. We need to meet change with change,” she said. Chris Christie, another rumored candidate, has a 65% approval rating and a CBS poll shows he is only down 3 points from Clinton in a potential 2016 match-up. “If Republicans are looking for a more moderate, effective Republican governor, with a broad appeal, I think Chris Christie is a much better option for them,” Krystal said on Wednesday’s show. “People like him. They like his direct style and I think he is a more skilled politician.”
