As the media analyzes every angle of the story, a new poll reveals that Americans don’t really care about ‘Bridgegate.’
According to a recent Pew Research Center study, the Chris Christie scandal was the 4th story Americans were following closely with just 18% saying they were focused on Governor Christie’s New Jersey controversy. The top followed story of the week was the polar vortex plaguing the country, followed by the status of the U.S. economy at 28%, and the unemployment conversation at 19%.
Overall, Americans opinion of Governor Christie did not change in light of ‘Bridgegate.’ In fact, 60% of Americans say their opinions have not changed, while only 16% view him less favorably.
When broken down by party, Christie still seems to find himself in good graces with the public as 69% of Republicans, 55% of Democrats and 60% of independents say their opinion of the governor remains unchanged. However, it is not all good news as the survey reveals 10% of Republicans, 25% of Democrats and 14% of independents say their opinion of the governor has become less favorable in light of recent events.
