Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* A new Quinnipiac poll shows President Obama leading Mitt Romney by seven points in Florida, six points in Ohio, and three points in Pennsylvania. It’s hard to even imagine a scenario in which Romney loses these three states and wins the general election.
* The latest CNN poll shows Romney leading Rick Santorum nationally among Republicans by 10 points, 36% to 26%.
* The same CNN poll found most Republicans want Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul to end their campaigns.
* In Pennsylvania, where Santorum is counting on a strong showing, a new Pittsburgh Tribune-Review poll shows the former senator leading by only two points in his home state.
* In Wisconsin, a new Marquette Law School poll shows Gov. Scott Walker (R) with very narrow leads over his most likely Democratic challengers in this year’s recall race.
