Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* The final two polls out of Ohio show a very competitive Republican presidential primary. Though most of the recent polls show Mitt Romney with a slight edge over Rick Santorum, CNN now shows the two tied at 32% each, while a Suffolk poll shows Santorum ahead, 37% to 33%.
* Speaking of Ohio, let’s not forget another marquee match-up today: as a result of redistricting, Democratic Reps. Marcy Kaptur and Dennis Kucinich will face off against one another today.
* In Maine, former Independent Gov. Angus King is launching a U.S. Senate campaign, and his announcement shakes up the race in rather dramatic ways — King was a popular two-term governor, and his entry may push prominent Democrats to reconsider their candidacies.
* As part of the push to paint Mitt Romney as anti-Hispanic, Democrats are seizing on the former governor’s new round of attacks over Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
