Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* A new Fox News poll shows President Obama leading Mitt Romney at the national level, 46% to 39%. Obama reportedly benefited in the poll from growing support among independents.
* The Romney campaign, in coordination with the RNC, raised $40.1 million in April, just shy of the $43.6 million Obama and the DNC raised over the same period.
* In Wisconsin, the latest poll from Marquette Law School Poll finds Gov. Scott Walker (R) leading Tom Barrett (D) among likely voters, 50% to 44%. Two weeks ago, Walker’s lead was just one point. The recall election is less than three weeks away.
* In Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren (D) hopes to get her campaign back on track by getting back to basics, launching a new television ad highlighting her work as a fighter for consumers and the middle class.
* In North Carolina, Public Policy Polling shows Obama with a narrow lead over Romney, 48% to 47%. * Speaking of North Carolina, the Republican Governors Association is increasingly confident about winning the state’s governor’s mansion in 2012, and is investing heavily to attack Democrat Walter Dalton. * After losing a primary fight in his native Ohio, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D) considered running in the state of Washington, but announced yesterday he will instead leave Congress at the end of the year.
