Republicans in the Missouri legislature announced in March that it would honor Rush Limbaugh, of all people, with a bronze bust at the state capitol, giving him a place in the Hall of Famous Missourians alongside the likes of Mark Twain, Harry Truman, and Walt Disney. Two weeks ago, in a private event inside the legislative chamber, Limbaugh accepted the honor, and delivered a speech in which he said Democrats “are deranged.”
Doors to the legislative chamber were, by the way, reportedly locked and guarded during Limbaugh’s appearance, and Democratic lawmakers were not welcome.
Two weeks later, there are apparently concerns about the safety of Limbaugh’s bronze head.

Limbaugh’s is the only one with a dedicated camera. Republican legislative leaders were worried about vandalism, Clerk Adam Crumbliss told the Associated Press.
“We recognize that there was a level of controversy around it, and we want to make sure that property is protected,” Crumbliss told the AP.
Assistant House Minority Leader Tishaura Jones (D) told the AP, “If they thought that the bust might be defaced or vandalized and they have to guard it with a camera, it’s another indication that maybe they shouldn’t have put it there.”
