Today’s installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.
* The final tallies in Kentucky’s Democratic U.S. Senate primary are expected today, and it looks like the contest between state Rep. Charles Booker and former fighter pilot Amy McGrath is going to be very close. The winner will take on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) in the fall. [Update: NBC News has called the race for McGrath.]
* It’s Primary Day in Utah, where there’s a competitive, multi-candidate Republican gubernatorial primary. The top contenders are Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, former Gov. Jon Huntsman, and former state House Speaker Greg Hughes.
* Colorado Democrats will choose their U.S. Senate nominee today, and party leaders have rallied behind former Gov. John Hickenlooper. He has, however, stumbled a bit in recent weeks, creating an opening for former state House Speaker Andrew Romanoff. The winner will face incumbent Sen. Cory Gardner (R) in November.
* There are also some notable Republican U.S. House primaries today, including in Oklahoma’s 5th, where the party sees Rep. Kendra Horn (D) as vulnerable, and in Utah’s 4th, where GOP officials hope to unseat Rep. Ben McAdams (D).
