Today’s installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.
* In recent months, prominent Trump campaign staffers rejected the idea that the president would seek a delay in the election over and over and over and over again. Funny, they’re saying far less this morning.
* Herman Cain, a Republican presidential candidate in 2012 and a relatively prominent Donald Trump supporter, has died from complications from COVID-19. He was 74.
* CNN reported yesterday that Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) re-election campaign released a Facebook ad this month “featuring a digitally altered image” of Jaime Harrison, his Black rival, “with a darker skin tone.” This comes on the heels of Sen. David Perdue (R) running an ad featuring a manipulated picture of his opponent — Jon Ossoff (D), who is Jewish — with an enlarged nose.
* The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump super PAC founded by disaffected Republican strategists, unveiled a new ad this week targeting Sen. Susan Collins (R), who’s facing a tough re-election campaign in Maine. Just as notably, the ad is part of a $4 million ad buy launched by the Lincoln Project.
