Today’s installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.
* Though Donald Trump still has a chance of winning, Politico reported over the weekend that “finger-pointing” inside the president’s political operation is “happening at an uncommon level in this campaign.”
* As difficult as this is to believe, the latest Dallas Morning News/University of Texas at Tyler poll found Joe Biden with a small lead over Trump among likely voters in the Lone Star State, 48% to 45%. In Texas’ U.S. Senate race, the same survey found incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R) leading M.J. Hegar (D), 42% to 34%.
* On a related note, Sen. Kamala Harris, the Democrats’ vice presidential nominee, will be campaigning in Texas this week — a first for a member of a Democratic ticket in quite a while.
* In Georgia, a new Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll found Biden with the narrowest of leads over Trump among likely voters, 47% to 46%.
* In Georgia’s closely watched U.S. Senate races, the same poll showed Jon Ossoff (D) narrowly leading incumbent Sen. David Perdue (R), 46% to 45%, while in the special election, Raphael Warnock (D) leads the multi-candidate field with 34%, followed by Rep. Doug Collins (R) at 21%, and appointed incumbent Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R) at 20%. * In Montana, latest New York Times/Siena poll found Trump leading Biden, 49% to 43%, after the president carried the state by 20 points four years ago. Perhaps more importantly, the same survey showed incumbent Sen. Steve Daines (R) ahead of Gov. Steve Bullock (D), 49% to 46%. * The Union Leader newspaper in Manchester, N.H., which has a notoriously conservative editorial board, hasn’t endorsed a Democratic presidential candidate in over a century. Over the weekend, it announced its support for Biden. * In keeping with a jarring trend, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) turned to Fox News viewers on Friday night, asking them to donate to his re-election campaign. One day later, he did it again.
