Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* Newt Gingrich has received $11 million in support from Sheldon Adelson and his family, but Bloomberg News reports that the Adelsons “don’t plan to deliver another big check to float Gingrich’s campaign.”
* A new national Fox News poll shows Rick Santorum moving into second place in the race for the Republican nomination, and of particular interest is that the poll, taken over four nights, showed Santorum getting stronger as the week progressed.
* In the face of intense blowback, Michigan gubernatorial candidate Pete Hoekstra (R) has pulled his offensive website featuring his borderline-racist Super Bowl ad.
* In North Carolina, Public Policy Polling shows President Obama leading all of his Republican challengers, but by very narrow margins.
* Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) still believes it’s possible that we’ll see a brokered Republican Party Convention over the summer.
