At publishing time, 95% of msnbc.com users expressed support for normalizing United States relations with Cuba.
Here’s what you had to say about the president’s dramatic foreign policy shift, which he announced on Wednesday:
@marlenelooney: As a Cuban American who left in 1967, I greatly welcome the change. It is through dialogue that change takes place. I have traveled to Cuba yearly since 2009 and have seen significant changes on the island over the last five years. Fifty-four years of a failed embargo has only hurt the everyday Cuban. Thank you Mr. President! Engagement is better than isolation. Know that Cuban-American members of Congress DO NOT represent all Cuban Americans in the U.S.
Doximom: Never thought I’d live to see this day! I remember when the embargo was placed on Cuba way back in 1962. That was a very scary time. Way to go, Mr. President!!!
HelloDock: They may call him lame duck but in America’s eyes, the president is doing a great job. The embargo has not worked in 50 years and it will not work in current times.
MareRocks: It’s about time we ended this relic of Cold War policy.
ecoenergy99: Almost 60 years after the “revolution” and 25 years after the fall of communism, it’s time. It’s good for the Cuban people, most of all.
lickasense: It’s about time! I want to visit Cuba.
