MANCHESTER, New Hampshire — Two days after threatening to sue sue Sen. Ted Cruz for spreading inaccurate information about Dr. Ben Carson getting out of the race the night of the Iowa caucuses, Donald Trump is now saying he’s no longer interested in taking legal action.
“Well, you know, I’m in New Hampshire now, and I’m not even thinking about it,” Trump said on a Boston radio show on Friday. “I don’t care about it anymore, I’m so into New Hampshire now, and making America great again, and winning New Hampshire.”
On caucus night, Cruz’s campaign volunteers told voters that Carson was getting out of the race, using a report that he was going to Florida after the caucuses to make the claim, and they encouraged caucus-goers to vote for Cruz instead. The Carson campaign insisted they were still in the race, but the Cruz campaign persisted; Cruz has since apologized for not clarifying that Carson wasn’t exiting the contest. Trump said Wednesday he’d “probably” sue Cruz over it; the billionaire real-estate mogul has called it “voter fraud” and said Cruz “stole” the race.
