If you’re like many Americans, you’ve probably been thinking about leaving the country based on the way the 2016 presidential election has been going.
Good news: There’s insurance for that. (Bad news: It’s fake.)
In a new Esurance ad out just in time for April Fool’s Day, the insurance company is offering to keep up your home should you choose to leave the U.S. post-election.
The two-minute spot at first shows a family watching the results of the presidential election in shock and dismay as the voice-over announcer — “The Office” star John Krasinski — explains, “Whether you’re setting down roots to start a family, or uprooting your family to move to Canada — now, more than ever, it’s important to have a smart policy that protects your home in the event that you decide to abandon it in the next four years.”
Thus, election insurance is born.
The timing couldn’t be better. After results from last month’s Super Tuesday, during which front-runners Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump secured crucial delegates after big wins in Democratic and Republican contests respectively, Google searches were through the roof for “How can I move to Canada?”
