1) It vs. electrified border fences
Rep. Steve King: “We could also electrify this wire (on the border) with the kind of current that would not kill somebody, but it would simply be a discouragement for them to be fooling around with it. We do that with livestock all the time.”
Stephen King, It: “Bill could smell Its breath and it was a smell like exploded animals lying on the highway at midnight.”
2) “Hauling marijuana” vs. The Shining
Rep. Steve King: “For every one who’s a valedictorian, there’s another 100 out there who weigh 130 pounds and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they’re hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert.”
Stephen King, The Shining: “Wendy? Darling? Light, of my life. I’m not gonna hurt ya. I’m just going to bash your brains in.”
3) “Inviting a deportable” vs. Needful Things
Rep. Steve King: “Obama perverts ‘prosecutorial discretion’ by inviting a deportable to sit in place of honor at #SOTU w/1st Lady.”
Stephen King, Needful Things: “The devil’s voice is sweet to hear.” 4) “Spread-eagle search” vs. The Shining Rep. Steve King: “The 75-year-old grandmother gets the spread-eagle search and while that happens, maybe the 20-year-old Middle Eastern male waltzes through with a smirk on his face. I’m not making that up. I’ve seen that. That image will not ever leave my mind.” Stephen King, The Shining: “’Daddy …?’ He was almost asleep now. ‘What?’ ‘What’s redrum?’ ‘Red drum?’ ‘Sounds like something an Indian might take on the warpath.’ Silence. ‘Hey, doc?’ But Danny was asleep, breathing in long, slow strokes.” 5) Hurricane Katrina vs. The Shining Rep. Steve King: “It turns out to be the best vote that I cast, was my ‘no’ vote to the $51.5 billion to Hurricane Katrina. That probably was my best vote.” Stephen King, The Shining: “Danny looked back over his shoulder. The bloodstain had returned, only now it was fresh. It was running.”
