Mitt Romney appeared on “Face the Nation” Sunday, his first interview on a Sunday talk show that is not on Fox News.
Romney did not say anything new or specific, and reiterated how as president, he would “work with Congress.”
On immigration reform, Romney told CBS host Bob Schieffer that he would “work with Congress to put in place a long-term solution for the children of those that have come here illegally.” Romney accused the president of putting the new policy in place because of politics, questioning the election-year timing.
He did not answer Schieffer’s questions on whether he would reverse the new policy, saying instead that he would pursue some sort of comprehensive immigration reform that would include improving America’s borders.
Romney also stood by his promise not to raise taxes, insisting that this would “create more growth.” He added that people on the top tax tier, “the one percent, or two percent, or half a percent,” would still pay the same share of the tax burden.
