President Barack Obama visited Kenya this Saturday for the first time since he took office — and he didn’t leave without showing off his dance moves.
While at a dinner at the Nairobi’s State House, President Obama was invited to dance Lipala, a traditional Kenyan dance that has resurfaced with a modern-twist. Obama danced to “Sura Yako,” a song performed by a popular Kenyan band called Sauti Sol.
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, first lady Margaret Kenyatta, and U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice also danced Lipala alongside President Obama.
The band Sauti Sol uploaded a video of Obama showing off his dance moves on Instagram saying, “And for those who doubted President @barackobama‘s step – the #LipalaDance #SuraYako is his new favorite Kenyan dance!”
