Pope Francis will visit the White House in September during his trip to the United States, the Obama administration announced Thursday.
White House press secretary Josh Earnest said that the pontiff and the president will talk about their “shared values” during the September 23 visit, “including caring for the marginalized and the poor; advancing economic opportunity for all; serving as good stewards of the environment; protecting religious minorities and promoting religious freedom around the world; and welcoming and integrating immigrants and refugees into our communities.”
