She has joined him for fitness competitions and dance-offs, and now first lady Michelle Obama will join Jimmy Fallon for another big face-off as he stakes his claim in the prime late-night comedy time slot during his first week as host of the Tonight Show.
Obama is scheduled to join Fallon on Feb. 20 in New York City’s Rockefeller Center, as the show returns to the same studio Johnny Carson helmed it from decades ago.
Michelle Obama onced joked with Fallon that she might want to take over the show that Carson and Jay Leno hosted for so many years, in a response to a question about her future plans and whether she would join what Fallon called a “dream team — Michelle and Hillary 2016.”
“I have my eye actually on another job. You know, I hear that when Jay Leno retires that the onight Show position is going to be open, and I’m thinking about putting my hat in the ring,” she said, to laughter from Fallon and the audience.
The Obamas have been regulars on Fallon’s Late Night program, and the TV host has visited the White House and developed a decent vocal impression of the president (check it out in this clip at 2:43).
