The son of an Oklahoma politician allegedly stabbed his father to death outside an Oklahoma City restaurant on Sunday evening, police said.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing around 6:35 p.m. local time (7:35 p.m. ET) to find Oklahoma Labor Commissioner Mark Costello with multiple stab wounds to the head and neck, police said.
Costello was transported to an area hospital, where he died of his wounds.
Police said Costello’s son, Christian Costello, 27, was taken into custody.
Patrick Spencer was driving nearby when he saw someone he thought had been shot.
“We got a closer look and there was a guy chasing him with a knife,” Spencer told NBC affiliate KFOR. “It was shocking and dramatic.”
