President Obama’s young daughters do not appear on the political scene often. After all, they’re both under the age of 14, but that hasn’t stopped the president or the first lady from referencing their kids on the campaign trail, reports NBC’s Kristen Welker for The Today Show.
The report notes that the president has mentioned his daughters in several campaign speeches, as well as during his May announcement supporting gay marriage. At the time, he said his daughters, Malia and Sasha, have friends with gay parents.
Michelle Obama choked up when mentioning her daughters during an appearance for her husband’s re-election campaign in Colorado this week. “I think about the world I want to leave for them, and for all our sons and daughters,” she said.
