On the same day that House Speaker John Boehner announced his resignation, a whopping 72% of Republican primary voters said they were dissatisfied with his and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s ability to achieve GOP goals, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
That includes 44% of GOP primary voters who said they were “very” dissatisfied with Boehner and McConnell, and 36% who want them immediately removed from their leadership positions.
These poll results — conducted Sunday through Thursday — come as Boehner announced on Friday morning his resignation as speaker, effective on Oct. 30.

According to the poll, 28% of GOP primary voters said they were “somewhat dissatisfied” with Boehner’s and McConnell’s ability to achieve Republican goals and priorities, while 44% said they were “very dissatisfied.”
