Actress Lindsay Lohan may be following hip-hop star Kanye West’s lead into politics.
The tabloid regular and former star of “Mean Girls” started dropping hints about a potential 2020 run for the White House in a series of social media posts that referenced the rapper’s recent declaration that he would run that same year during the MTV Video Music Awards
“In #2020 I may run for president. Through ups and downs #YESWECAN. lets do this @kanyewest #truespirits thank you for inspiring us to be better people,” she said in an Instagram post directed at her 4 million followers on Friday.

It’s unclear how earnest Lohan is about running for office. However, in a second post (which included a photo of the actress with West) she announced: “The first thing I would like to do as president … is take care of all of the children suffering in the world.”
Lohan, whose career has faltered in recent years after several high profile legal and personal setbacks, is only 29 years old. This means should would be 34 by 2020 and thus not eligible to be president. She has also openly explored the possibility of seeking British citizenship, which would also disqualify her from running. The ex-child star has been unpredictable as far as how she aligns herself politically. She had professed support for President Obama is the past, but in 2012 she threw her support behind Republican Mitt Romney before appeared to backtrack by tweeting favorable messages about the Democratic incumbent. During the 2008 campaign, the Obama campaign reportedly rebuffed an offer from the actress to stump for him. This alleged action drew condemnation from her reality show star father. Meanwhile, Lohan’s apparent political inspiration, Kanye West, appears to be laying the groundwork for a future electoral bid. Obama recently joked about West’s prospects: “Do you really think this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States? That’s crazy.”
