Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush will release 33 years of personal tax returns on Tuesday, his campaign says.
Bush is expected to post the information on his web site on Tuesday afternoon. Aides describe the move both as unprecedented for a presidential candidate in American history and as a continuation of Bush’s commitment to transparency while serving as governor of Florida.
Bush’s disclosure is also intended to serve as a contrast to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who has been under fire for her use of a personal email account and server while heading the State Department. It also comes on the final day of a political fundraising quarter expected to show a major cash haul for Bush’s team.
The disclosure will break the record held by then-Sen. Bob Dole in 1996, who released 30 years of tax returns during his presidential run. The last two GOP nominees, Sen. John McCain and former Gov. Mitt Romney, each released two years of tax returns.
