The only appearance of George W. Bush, the most recent Republican to sit in the Oval Office, at the Republican National Convention came via a video tribute that also featured his dad, former President George H.W. Bush.
At one point in the video, the younger Bush jokes that he’s the “black sheep” of the family. His brother Jeb Bush, the former Republican governor of Florida who has been on the media speaking circuit lately, reacted to that clip with an analogy of his own.
“If he’s the black sheep of the family, then I’m the underachiever,” he joked on Morning Joe in Tampa, Fla., Thursday.
In a preview of the speech he will deliver at the convention in Florida Thursday night, the former governor said he will discuss education reform, not “necessarily a presidential issue” but something he continues to advocate for at the national level.
