If the government hurdles toward a shutdown on Oct. 1, House Republicans are saying it won’t be on them.
“The ball is not in my court anymore—today we’re going to pass this legislation,” Florida Republican Rep. Trey Radel said.
On Saturday, House Republicans hashed out a plan to keep the government running until mid-December in exchange for a one-year delay to Obamacare’s implementation. Democrats have already vowed to reject the plan, leaving Congress just two days to drum out a deal to avert a government shutdown.
“The ball is in Harry Reid’s court, The government shutdown rides on him,” Radel said of the Senate majority leader. The House is expected to vote on the funding bill on Saturday.
