St. Louis County officials announced that Ferguson, Missouri, is no longer under a state of emergency as of Friday morning.
“After reviewing the events of the past four evenings, under the state of emergency, I am pleased to report our law enforcement officers have established order while preventing further acts of violence in Ferguson,” St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger said in a statement on Friday.

Officials declared the initial state of emergency on Monday, after gunfire was exchanged late Sunday during protests marking one year since the death of Michael Brown Jr., an unarmed black teen who was shot and killed an a white police officer. After the arrests of dozens of protesters on Monday, demonstrations during the week have remained peaceful.
