A day after presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump accused Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton of lying when she pointed out that Trump has previously voiced support for guns in schools, Trump said again Sunday morning on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” that some teachers should be armed.

Phoning in to “Fox & Friends” Sunday, Trump contradicted himself multiple times when asked to respond to Clinton, saying, “I don’t want to have guns in classrooms, although in some cases teachers should have guns in classrooms, frankly,” because “the things that are going on in our schools are unbelievable.” Then, he said, “I’m not advocating guns in classrooms, but remember in some cases … trained teachers should be able to have guns in classrooms.”
Clinton took Trump, who was endorsed by the NRA on Friday, to task for this position on Saturday at the Trayvon Martin Foundation’s Circle of Mothers event. “Unlike Mr. Trump, I will not pander to the gun lobby,” Clinton said, calling his pledge to have every school in the country allow guns in the classroom “dangerous.” At the convention, Trump also promised to eliminate gun-free zones at schools and military bases.
