Mineral Wells police told NBC News that the twister collapsed an abandoned bank behind the Baker Hotel, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Police headquarters and an old mercantile building were also hit.
No injuries were reported in the immediate aftermath of the tornado, which touched down near a highway one mile west of town at 7:25 p.m. (8:25 p.m. ET) and headed straight for downtown, the weather service’s Fort Worth office said.
