Over the course of the presidential campaign, White House hopefuls have tussled at debates, defended their policies on talk shows and addressed supporters at rallies around the country. In interviews published Wednesday, People magazine has provided a glimpse into the personal lives of the candidates.
Contenders on both sides of the aisle, including Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Marco Rubio, shared their guilty pleasure TV shows, hidden talents and ideal date night plans.
It should come as no surprise that Trump did not name “Celebrity Apprentice” as his favorite television show after he broke ties with the franchise to pursue his presidential campaign. He did, however, name a different NBC show.
“My guilty pleasure TV show – SNL, starring me,” he told the magazine.

When asked about her guilty pleasure on television, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also named a show that she might be pretty familiar with.
“Lately I have been into Madam Secretary. Sometimes us ex-diplomats need our fix!” she said. Clinton also confessed that her ideal date night involves watching television with her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
For a more extravagant outing, Trump shared that he and his wife, Melania, went to see Adele on a recent date night. This is not out of the ordinary for anyone who has been to one of his campaign rallies; Adele’s Oscar-winning James Bond theme song “Skyfall” is a mainstay on the business mogul’s playlist before he speaks.
Sanders, or “Grandpa Bern” as his grandchildren call him, revealed that his favorite food to eat on the campaign trail is pork chops, and that he has a knack for grilling. As for other candidates’ hidden talents, many confessed that they enjoy singing. Rubio belts out Lionel Richie and Frank Sinatra hits; Carly Fiorina composes songs for her two dogs; Hillary Clinton sings “perfectly off-pitch” to her granddaughter; Chris Christie’s aides have “learned to love” his car ride karaoke; and Mike Huckabee is a self-proclaimed “gifted rap artist.” While they might go head-to-head in the political arena, most of the candidates can at least agree on breakfast – almost all of them chow down on some form of eggs to start their day. Politicians – they’re just like us.
